About this product
The Arturia KeyStep MK2 is a 32-key slimkey controller with a built-in sequencer, arpeggiator, display screen, and pitch/mod wheels. It includes CV/Gate outputs, MIDI I/O, and a sustain pedal input. Priced at $169.85 with a stand, it's an upgraded version of the original KeyStep.
Our take
The KeyStep MK2 improves on the original with a display screen and more hands-on controls. The slimkeys with aftertouch are playable, and the pitch/mod wheels are welcome additions. The 64-step sequencer and arpeggiator are intuitive, and the screen shows settings clearly. The CV/Gate outs still connect to modular gear. At $170 with the stand, it's a step up in price but worth it for the extra features. My only complaint is the limited 32-key range, which may cramp two-handed playing. But for sequencing and controlling synths, it's a solid upgrade.
