About this product
The Arturia KeyStep is a 32-key hybrid keyboard controller with a built-in sequencer, arpeggiator, and CV/Gate outputs. It features aftertouch, pitch/mod wheels, and rotary encoders. Priced at $144.90 with a stand, it's a portable solution for sequencing and controlling synths.
Our take
The KeyStep is a compact workhorse. The 32 synth-action keys with aftertouch feel decent for the price, and the built-in 64-step sequencer is intuitive. I love having pitch and mod wheels—something missing on pricier models. The arpeggiator is fun for jamming. The CV/Gate outputs let me control my modular gear directly. At $145 with the stand, it's a bargain. The main downsides are the small keyboard range and the lack of a display screen—you rely on software for visual feedback. Still, for portable sequencing, it's hard to beat.
